The New Year Ritual

At a time close to midnight, a gathering takes place. In an open-roofed temple, In the center of this open roofed temple, a magically-created bonfire burns. The area around the bonfire is strictly forbidden to all but few...

...but populating the darkened temple, faces lit by the flickering magical flames, are all could make the journey. Be they human, fur, or even furmential or Tai'far, all hatreds are put aside for this night. Everyone watches the bonfire burn as four figures take up positions around it.

North - the high priest/priestess of the human religions.

West - the most powerful priest/priestess of the furmentials, commonly a Windhawk.

East - the high priest/priestess of the fur communities.

South - the reigning Queen of the Tai'far.

Once the positions are filled, the four around the fire begin to chant. It is not a language native to fur, human or furmential. It is almost as if they are possessed by the gods themselves, as each person intones a specific ritual.

Under the influence of these words, the fire begins to glow. From around the four, magical misty light shimmers, wrapping around the fire as it glows and shimmers. Taking in the magic from the ancient and unknown rituals, the fire's colour swirls and changes, and the fire begins to smoke...

....both showing the colours of the year that is about to come...

...as one year ends in the world, and a new year awakes.
